TRAVEL REPORT: WATERFALLS & BURGECK

A visit to Krimml is absolutely recommended. In half an hour, we reached the largest waterfalls in Europe, which drop 380 metres over the cliffs in three stages. The fifth-highest waterfalls in the world are also a natural cure for allergies and asthma.

The Krimml Waterfalls are characterised by a unique micro-climate. The particularly fine spray mist near the falls contains negatively charged, finely-atomised water fragments, so-called nano-aerosols. Because of their small size, these aerosols can penetrate deeply into your respiratory tract and work their cleansing effect there.

Time spent in the spray mist coming off the Krimml Waterfalls has a positive and lasting effect on our health. It alleviates allergies in general and allergic asthma in particular. A clinical study of 54 children clearly demonstrated the healing effect of the Krimml Waterfalls.

Hohen Tauern Health project manager Petra Lemberger and her medical colleague Johanna Prosegger were able to convince us of the healing effects of the spray mist. After spending an hour in the mist, I could breathe better, my heart rate had slowed down, and I felt deeply relaxed. For this reason, spending at least 14 days here near the waterfalls is recommended for asthmatics and allergy sufferers, spending 1 hour a day in the mist.

If you then add in some walking or cycling, this will increase the effectiveness of the treatment. The success of this waterfall therapy in a hypoallergenic Hohe Tauern health hotel is also supported by healthy dining and a wide range of treatments such as instruction in breathing techniques and movement therapy. These hotels are specifically designed to meet the needs of allergy sufferers and asthmatics.

We take a look at the new, generously-sized rooms, apartments, and family suites designed for people with allergies at Panoramahotel Burgeck
