ACHEN VALLEY NOODLE CASSEROLE

A KRIMML SPECIALITY

 

INGREDIENTS (for 4 persons)

500 g of ribbon noodles
1/2 l milk
1/8 l cream
Salt, pepper, nutmeg
130 g each of Tyrolean grey (Graukäse), grùyere or a dry Swiss (Bergkäse)cheese, and cottage cheese
2 chopped onions
50 g butter
chives

 

 

Boil the noodles in salt water and drain. Set aside. Grate the cheeses and blend. Bring the milk and the cream to the boil, add the spices and noodles, mix with the cheese, and pour into a baking dish and bake for 15 minutes in a hot oven. Brown the onion in butter, spread over the casserole, and sprinkle with chives.
